Moderated by High Fantasy track director Jennifer Liang and featuring myself, Hanako M. Ricks of the Fandom Hybrid podcast, author Ryan Cahill, and Rebecca Fant, this panel was alllll about the admired, beloved, and, yes, reviled, “Rogue Prince” Prince Daemon Targaryen.
(While some minor sound editing was done to make the original recording somewhat easier on the ears, please keep in mind that this was recorded live and therefore the sound quality is uneven at best.)
Geek Saga Podcast Episode 127: The Rogue Prince at Dragon Con 2024
While I posted my 2023 reading list before that year ended, I was finishing books right up until the last minute in 2024 – and here’s my list of the *63* books that I read this year!
Honestly the fact that I read so many is mostly thanks to the fact that I started listening to audiobooks when I run (courtesy of Spotify Premium for now, though I’m thinking about an Audible subscription). The full list is below, and here’s a little key: – A book with 3 stars marks those that made it into my top 6 – A book with 2 stars means it made it into [the bottom 6 of] my top 12 – A book with 1 star is a read that didn’t make it into the top 12 but that I still really enjoyed – Underlined titles are re-reads – Bolded titles mean I read a physical copy – Italicized titles denote audiobooks that I listened to …and FYI, if a book has no stars, that doesn’t mean I straight up didn’t like it, I just didn’t want to try to dig any deeper into star ratings than what’s listed above.
I would say that my ultimate favorite book this year was Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver (close second being Red Dead’s History by Tore C. Olsson), but while I didn’t star any of the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris (the book series that HBO’s True Blood is based on!), it was definitely my overall favorite new series of the year 🙂 (Which…I think you can tell because if you actually look over the full list, you’ll see that I had trouble taking breaks while reading this series to check out other things, ha…also, when you read 10 books in the same series as fast as I did, and like some better than most but overall just enjoy the SERIES as a whole more than the books as single entities…why bother giving any sort of rating to them, amiright?)

Episode 126 of The Geek Saga Podcast is the 7th episode in my “Impulsive Hyperfocus” series, and my first ever travelogue episode on just SOME of our recent experiences in Japan!
In regard to this particular episode’s name – just to be clear it is a silly play on words, specifically my Best Laid PLANS for JAPAN. This is just part 1 of what will be a 2-part story about my first time in Japan, covering some insight into my trip planning (both in general and for Japan specifically), transportation experiences, where we stayed and what we ate (and drank!).
